Run from it, dread it, but it comes all the same: viral dating shows are quickly becoming one of the most popular global phenomena, drawing the attention of many. Thus, it comes to no one’s surprise that the television series “Love Island” has decided to host their next season right here at Holy Cross. Fortunately, I was able to connect with Joanne Hogan, one of the producers of the new season, to get some insider information on the new season. Shown below is the interview that I captured.
Interviewer: What can you tell us about the theme for the new season?
Joanne Hogan: Well I don’t want to reveal the plot twist of the first episode but basically what happens is we are going to have the couples be “forbidden loves” in the sense that it will be between majors that do not typically get along. Think Philosophy and Engineering for example.
Interviewer: What are some of the challenges that you imagine these “forbidden loves” will participate in?
Joanne Hogan: Well again, I do not want to get into spoiler territory here but the school is only allowing us to do challenges that benefit the teachers. So for instance, we are going to have a challenge where the couples have to clean each of the teachers’ cars in the lot. We are also going to have a challenge where the couples have to go into classes and be heavily incentivized to participate.
Interviewer: What do you mean by “heavily incentivized”?
Joanne Hogan: Well duh it’s a reality dating show, it’s kind of our thing.
Interviewer: Moving on then, what are some things you can tell us about the challengers?
Joanne Hogan: Well our host company keeps trying to take us off air for this term they made up, what they called “violations,” so we only have two couples this season and no bombshells.
Interviewer: What can you tell us about those two couples?
Joanne Hogan: Our first couple is Andy Fauci and Claire Thomas. Claire was scouted out for weeks and went through many phases of interviews in order to make sure that she was the right person for the show.
Interviewer: And for Andy?Joanne Hogan: We found him on his way back from Weagle.
Interviewer: Who’s your second couple?
Joanne Hogan: Our Second couple is Angela Dowd and Jon Murray. Angela put out a Fizz post that got 800 upvotes, making her our most popular candidate. As for Jon, we really did not want him since we thought he was a little crazy given he got released from prison yesterday, but after he begged us for weeks and promised us all a croissant, we let him join.
Interviewer: Well our time here is wrapping up, so ill ask you one final question. Do you go here?
Joanne Hogan: No? I’m 42!?
