On Thursday, February 8, Kimball hosted a Late Night Breakfast in their after hours. The event took place from 9-11 pm and featured a student D.J., Anthony Mabardy ‘24, a raffle with prizes, and a variety of breakfast foods. All of the classics such as eggs, fruit, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and even more were provided. There was also cornhole, hula hoops, and other games set up to enjoy with friends. The typical setup of Kimball was rearranged to make room for a gathering space to play games and even dance in front of the D.J. stand. The event holders also decorated the space with balloons and other purple decorations. Kimball is such a pivotal spot on campus, especially to gather and hang out with friends, therefore it was the perfect location for a kick-off event. There was a great turn out of students– according to myHC, 682 students registered and attended– and the atmosphere and music provided a great energy to begin the weekend.

The evening was co-sponsored by the Holy Cross Alumni Association and the Holy Cross Fund to kick off the Power of Purple Giving Day. The Power of Purple Giving Day is an event at Holy Cross that has taken place annually for nine years now. The college describes Giving Day as “a day when the entire Holy Cross community comes together to show their love and make a difference for Holy Cross!” This year the college raised $3,552,242 from 8,100 donors! Giving Day ran from midnight on Friday, February 9 to midnight on Saturday, February 10.

This was not the first time that Kimball held a Late Night Breakfast, as they usually host at least one night during finals weeks each semester. This past Thursday night may have been the best turn out from the other Kimball events, and it definitely was the most entertaining. Based on the student reactions, it would not be a surprise if Kimball were to hold more fundraisers like this in the future. It was a great way to promote Giving Day and to get students excited for Winter Homecoming weekend and all that comes along with it.
