Kelly Lombardo ’26 and Maddie Foard ’26 have used their room in Wheeler as a way to convey their personal interests and bring pieces of home to Holy Cross.
The roommates both have a love for music, and they show off some of their favorite artists with posters for people like Frank Ocean, SZA, Daniel Caesar, The Backseat Lovers, and Phoebe Bridgers. Other posters include maps and various prints of art that the girls enjoy.
Lighting helps to give the room a cozy ambiance, with Foard opting to hang lights in columns in between the album posters. Lombardo draped her lights along the ceiling, shining down on her wall art and the knick-knacks on her desk.
Lombardo loves to travel, and has souvenirs from Italy, Vietnam, and Australia as a way to remember some of her favorite trips. On her desk, there are plenty of books, many of which reflect her interest in space.
Foard’s desk has items from home, making the distance from Holy Cross to her native Springfield feel much smaller.
Lombardo, a Chicago native, had to put a lot of thought into packing her things, but has managed to set up her side of the room with plenty of decorations and important items.
To deal with the chilly Massachusetts winters, each of the roommates has plenty of blankets and pillows on their beds to stay warm in the colder months. Lombardo also made sure to bring her favorite stuffed animals for dealing with the stresses of the school year.
Another thing that stands out upon coming into the room is the poster for the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference. Lombardo served as part of the conference when it was held at Holy Cross this past summer, and she made sure to get the signatures of the classmates who served with her to remember their time together.
Foard and Lombardo were roommates last year in a triple in Brooks, and they certainly are thrilled to be living together again this year. Their roommate dynamic sounds great, and they both do their part to keep the room organized and clean.
The roommates are loving Wheeler, and especially appreciate its prime location on the Holy Cross campus. Lombardo loves going to the gym and has appreciated the convenience of having the Jo right next door. Dinand Library is also nearby, and they are often found studying there when they are not relaxing in their dorm.
Maddie and Kelly have really put together a great room, which has kept them comfortable and enhanced their experience on the Hill.
