Beginning Friday, Oct. 23rd, and lasting until Saturday, Oct. 24, Holy Cross celebrated Homecoming Weekend, welcoming alumni back onto the hill. It was a weekend full of reuniting with old friends, catching up on where everyone is now, and seeing what has changed or stayed the same on Mount Saint James.

Among the various athletic events held on Friday, the weekend started with an Alumni Association awards celebration. This ceremony was held to honor alumni who represent outstanding service and dedication to the College. Presented were the Young Alumni Leadership awards and the In Hoc Signo award, which is the association’s highest honor. This year’s recipients included Ann Anesta ‘82, Thomas Carey ‘66, Elizabeth Greabe Antony ‘88, Shaun Mathews ‘77, and Kay Woodtli ‘21. This ceremony provides an opportunity to acknowledge alumni who are living the College’s values and giving back to the community through service and dedication to the school since graduation.

Alumni celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with a win against Bucknell. Before the game, students, alumni, and their families gathered for a tailgate on Freshman Field. Other pregame events included the Holy Cross Physicians Association Meeting and Award Ceremony and an advancement volunteer breakfast.

The game against Bucknell ended in a victory for the Crusaders. It was a 34-3 win over Bucknell, their third home game and first home win of the season. The game brought the team to a 3-5 overall record for the season, and a 3-2 record in the Patriot League.

Aside from the football game, Saturday gave former Crusaders plenty of opportunities to reconnect with their old home. From breakfast and lunch in Kimball, to a stop in the spirit store, and even a Mass in the chapel, alumni got to step right back into their college routines.

Other notable homecoming events included Affinity Fest on the Hogan courtyard sponsored by the Bishop Healy Committee, CHARA, HC F1RST, and LGBTQ+, as well as self-guided tours for the current exhibition in the Cantor Art Gallery and a post-game reception in the Hogan Campus Center pub.

Throughout Homecoming Weekend, the entire Holy Cross community, old and new, came together in celebration of our school and its values. The weekend gave alumni the chance to come back and reconnect with their former home. While exploring their past here, alumni also got to reflect on where they are now and how much they have grown since their time at Holy Cross.
