I’ve lived the majority of my life as an fervent antagonist of all things related to breakfast. My childhood consisted of protests against Eggo waffles, scrambled eggs, even a cup of OJ to start my day: I’ve hated the “most important meal of the day” for almost two decades. However, I’ve found the one place to change my pessimistic mind – I present to you, Bistro 185.
Located on its namesake 185 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester, this comfortable brunch location is the perfect spot for a late breakfast, early lunch with family and friends. The establishment offers plenty of parking spaces in the back as well as a few spots to street park in front of the restaurant.
Once my guest and I entered the Bistro, friendly staff welcomed us at the door, inviting us to make ourselves at home in either a booth facing the bustling Shrewsbury Street or towards the quiet, tucked-away corner tables closer to the back of the restaurant. We decided to switch things up and watch busy cars buzz by on their 8:30 am commute. Once seated, the variety of meals presented itself on its large, mouthwatering menu. Bistro truly has an item for everyone; from elaborate eggs Benedict and sugary-sweet French Toast to a traditional burger and fries, this restaurant hopes to make your brunch dreams come true.
My guest decided on a black cup of coffee, while I returned to my childhood sweet tooth and asked for a glass of chocolate milk. While we sipped on our drinks and awaited our food, we took in the comfortable atmosphere of the establishment. While Bistro can be busy most days, this Friday morning was the perfect amount of customers to sit through our meal with a comfortable buzz of conversation in the background without the pressure of being rushed in finishing our dishes.
Our food arrived at a later time, a bit longer than one would expect at a regular restaurant. However, it was completely worth the wait. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla with a side of hot sauce, while my guest ordered. I’ve previously ordered their Pumpkin Spice French Toast off of the Specials section of the menu as well as their popular Vegetable Omelet; while both items are absolutely flavorful and tasty, I’ve been hooked on the Breakfast Quesadilla. On a grilled flour tortilla, fillings include crispy bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, and scrambled eggs with flakes of pepper sprinkled throughout the quesadilla. This is my favorite dish to order from Bistro; I highly recommend it. The side of hot sauce pairs perfectly with the flavors of the cheese and avocado, with the bacon offering a crunchy yet delectable taste alongside the egg.
My guest ordered the Mediterranean Eggs Benedict on a grilled English muffin, which looked and tasted delicious the second the plate was presented on our table. She described her meal as a delicious start to her morning, a particular fan of the runny eggs and lightly-crisped edges of the English muffin. A favorite dish of hers, as well, one that keeps her returning to the Bistro with friends and coworkers. Our meals were also served with a side of potatoes, fresh and hot to the taste.
Bistro 185 is the ideal breakfast spot to dine in. With friendly restaurant staff catering to your every nutritional desire, this establishment serves fresh, flavorful, and delicious food while maintaining a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. I invite you to give Bistro 185 a try; it is truly a gem.
