On Friday April 10, 2026, the Holy Cross Dance Ensemble presented their extravagant Spring Show in the Luth Concert Hall. The end of the year event was organized by Senior Co-Chair Molly Hachey and Junior Co-Chair Kayla Bortik and the other Dance Ensemble Officers. The Spring Show is a highly anticipated event as it is the big reveal of the future choreographers for the upcoming year, and a farewell to the seniors who have put their heart and soul into the team during their time at Holy Cross. The wonderful show consisted of twenty-nine  choreographed dances, a culmination of the diverse dance styles on campus. Some of the styles showcased included classic Irish step dancers, elegant contemporary dance, expressive jazz, and the upbeat tap dancers. The audience was jam packed with Holy Cross friends and family, a completely sold-out performance. The crowd was roaring, with students calling out their friends’ names, parents enthusiastic applause, and teary-eyed grandparents. This year was the largest graduating class of dance ensemble members, twenty-nine extremely talented dancers. Our very own Chief Web Editor, Meredith McDonough ’26, is a standout member of both the Musical Theatre Dance group and the Hip Hop Dance group, and her presence on stage will be greatly missed as she graduates. The Dance Ensemble curated a beautiful show with intricate choreography and costumes. Some of the most eye-catching costumes included blue sequined fringe miniskirts for “River Deep, Mountain High” by Celine Dion, vibrant red mesh shirts for “Chasing the Sun” by The Wanted, and bright crimson ties paired with button-up shirts for “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” inspired by the film “10 Things I Hate About You.” The choreographers curated beautiful dances, highlighting the immense skills of their teammates. I had the privilege of interviewing Julia DeChaves ‘27 about her experience as a first-time choreographer for the modern dance group. DeChaves expressed that “working with my wonderful dancemates and seeing the choreography that I envisioned come to life was an extremely rewarding part of the show.” Going into her senior year, DeChaves looks forward to “continuing to choreograph modern pieces and creating more great memories with the team.” The Dance Ensemble is such a tight knit group and their performances bring together the Holy Cross community through their powerful movements and artistic expression. If you didn’t have the chance to attend this year’s Spring Show, make sure to grab your tickets for their Showcase on MyHC when they return in the fall!
