Recently, I made my first-ever trip down to Loyola for a very special visit to Lizzie Swanson’s and Ashley Stracco’s humble abode. Before I even entered the room, I got a peak of the warm environment that the two had created for themselves with a hand written welcome sign posted to the door. Upon entering the room, I was immediately drawn to the colorful, lively, and creative space the two have made for themselves. I started with Lizzie’s side. Most of the decor on her side is handmade, including (but not limited to) the pottery on her bookshelf and the chessboard jewelry stand. Posters on the wall showcase some of Lizzie’s favorite bands, her love for nature, and her artwork. My favorite part was the music notes hanging above her dresser, which she made herself.

Moving to Ashley’s side, I immediately had to ask about the truly impressive photo wall. Friends, family, and pets are featured on this wall. Moving to her desk I was impressed with her overflowing bookshelf and the post cards climbing the wall showcasing the many places she went when she backpacked through Europe. Ashley’s love for Disney is shown through her adorable Goofy squishmallow and the Disney blanket on her bed.

The rest of the room is encircled with fairy lights carefully strung up by Ashley. I couldn’t help but notice the impressive sticky note mural on the wall or the handcrafted calendar. I love the magnets on the fridge and the LEGO version of the playground that the girls built for Working for Worcester day last year. The TV on the dresser makes the space great for movie nights with friends. It’s truly impressive how much care the girls have put into this room, especially with how much is handmade. While this may have been my first trip to Loyola, it hopefully won’t be my last!
