On the waiting list for 5 different classes
‘Twas the night before enrollment, when all through the dorm
Not a creature was stirring, except for my broken heater rattling like crazy;
Laptops were charging on desks with care,
In hopes that permission codes soon would be there;
The students were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of Caro Street danced in their heads;
My roomie in her pjs and I in my sweats,
Had just settled our brains for a much needed rest,
When out on the street there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Another transport or maybe a fire?
Or was I late for a staff meeting of The Spire?
I peered out my window and upon Easy Street,
When to my eyes a lovely sight did meet.
The shiniest Tesla in all of the city,
I knew in a moment it must have been Vinny.
In a grey Tesla pulled by reindeer he came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now Mansions! now, Canvas! now, Jesuit Mission!
On, ChatGPT! on, Ignite! on, Raising Tuition!”
I shook my head, I couldn’t believe my eyes,
Was this really Vinny or the Holy Skunk in disguise?
I bounded down the stairs and out to the car,
To get a better look at this sight so bizarre.
He was dressed in all purple, from his head to his toe,
A dazzling sight was President Rougeau;
He pulled out a notebook there on the road,
It had reserved seats and permission codes.
I approached the jolly man with a burning question:
“Could you let me into Poli Sci 267?”
He chuckled and chortled with a voice so deep,
Yet he did not awaken any students from their sleep,
He spoke not a word, but in his book he wrote,
Tore a slip of paper and handed me a note.
“Your grades will soar and exams you will pass,
Code: VINNY420 will get you into class.”
He sprang to his Tesla, to his reindeer gave a yell,
And away they were, like the old Holy Bell.
But I heard him exclaim, old Vinny Rougeau—
“Happy Enrollment to all, go Cross go!”
