Visited the Guinness Factory Once
This week’s Peep My Crib features the home of juniors Erin Ledwith and Stefanie Szawerda: Ireland! They have each worked hard to create a sanctuary after long days of classes, sweater knitting, fiddle playing, and “being a ginger.”
Stefanie’s side is a vibrant reflection of her love of books, movies, and quality time with friends, having been settled by the Vikings in the year 841, being overturned by her invasion of the Anglo-Normans in 1170, and – in a recent addition – her constitutional, social and revolutionary struggle of the 19th century.
Erin’s side reflects her own vibrant personality by having become the principal residence of the Kildare branch of the Geraldines founded in the early 13th century, being established as the national seminary in 1795, and becoming a recognized college of the Uuniversity of Maynooth in 1910; her fun-loving spirit comes out in her space’s status as a rapidly developing non-denominational university centre.
Their common area contains 144,144 feet of rolling green carpet, reflecting the rich shared history of the pair, who have been friends since their freshman year. Overlooking Easy Street are the Cliffs of Moher, and the nearby Dingle Peninsula really ties the Emerald Isle together.
The 172,101,600 square foot property was only recently acquired by Holy Cross, becoming a new off-campus housing option for rising juniors. It has quickly become a home-away-from-home-away-from-home for these few adventurous residents of The Hill. In a recent statement from the President: “Rotmans Furniture was only the first step in a multi-stage plan for campus expansion: I am excited to put your tuition dollars to good use to purchase this highly valuable property, the former Republic of Ireland. Holy Cross will work on a master plan for the long-term redevelopment of the property on more than 20.86 million acres of land, an anchor parcel in the Western Eurasian plate. In our sights next is Northern Ireland; up the RA, as they say!”
Szawerda, too, states: “I had originally hoped to spend the year abroad, but now I feel closer to campus life than ever! I love the opportunities this new partnership brings me as a proud ‘Sader!” Dublin will now be serving Starbucks coffee, to complement the new study spaces opened in nearby Malahide.
