It’s that time of year again! Course enrollment is quickly approaching as the fall semester is wrapping up at Holy Cross. As we are looking ahead to the spring, students have recently spent much of their time researching classes, consulting professors and advisors, and even seeking advice from friends and fellow classmates to adequately prepare to make informed academic decisions this enrollment season.

The enrollment process for the upcoming spring semester is divided into three stages. In the first stage, students will have the ability to enroll in up to two courses. During the second stage (which takes place the day after the first stage), students will have the opportunity to enroll in another two courses, therefore completing their spring enrollment over a two-day period.

Before students enroll in their courses, they must meet with their academic advisors, as they will have to lift an Advising Enrollment Hold for their advisees to go through with the enrollment process. If you have declared a major, your advisor will be in the department of your major. If you are a double major, however, you will have to schedule meetings with two advisors (you will have one for each major), since both of them will have to lift your Advising Enrollment Hold. Please make sure you have, at the very least, a general idea of the classes you wish to take next semester, so your advisor(s) can guide you to the best of their ability.

For students who are currently studying abroad, you do not have an Advising Enrollment Hold, but it is still strongly recommended to meet with your advisor(s) before enrolling in your courses for next semester to make sure you are prepared to do so.

Seniors are the first to choose their classes, as they partake in their last enrollment process on Thursday, November 7th, and Friday, November 8th. Juniors are up next, enrolling on Monday, November 11th and Tuesday, November 12th. Underclassmen will be the last to choose courses, with sophomores enrolling on Thursday, November 14th, and Friday, November 15th, and first-years closing out the enrollment period on Monday, November 18th, and Tuesday, November 19th. As always, students can enroll for their courses starting at 7:00 a.m. (ET) on their respective days.

If you are unable to get the classes you want during the first two stages of enrollment, try not to stress too much, as there is an Open Enrollment period (the third stage) that begins on Tuesday, December 3rd, and ends on Monday, January 27th of the new year. During this time frame, students will be able to change their course schedules, whether it’s adding, dropping, or swapping classes to make their schedules as desirable as possible.

With all of this being said, try your best to remember to stay calm yet informed and prepared, as being on top of everything will only benefit you. Best of luck to all Holy Cross students this enrollment season!
