This past weekend was bustling with family and friends celebrations here on the Hill, with a record-breaking turnout. The annual Family Weekend did not disappoint, with events happening from Friday, October 28, 2022, to Sunday, October 30, 2022, offering a fan-favorite football game against Fordham, familial activities, campus tours, religious services, and much more!

Check-ins for all family members were available Friday and Saturday upon arrival to ensure everyone received the information they needed and questions answered for the weekend ahead. On Friday, campus tours, open houses, dance shows, and firepits commenced the weekend. While activities were in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were full of Crusader families and popular events.

President Vincent D. Rougeau invited families, friends, and faculty to President’s Hour at the brand new Prior Performing Arts Center to kick off the weekend at 10 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022. A beautiful speech presented on a perfect fall morning was the ideal start to the weekend. For most families, this was the first time they had seen the new center, a modern building that reflects light and creativity, with a winding staircase and walls that echo. My roommate’s family enjoyed their Prior tour, as they had never seen it before amongst the historic buildings. As my friend is a Studio Art Major, this experience was memorable for her and her family to witness a new art facility on campus, especially during the nostalgic senior year.

One of the most interactive parts of the weekend was Fall Fest, located right on the Hoval and occurred on Saturday, October 29, 2022. An excellent activity for families from 12 pm- 4 pm, adorned with inflatable activities and fall-themed festivities. From music to pumpkin decorating to food, the Hoval came to life with various parents, faculty, children, and current students participating in the fun.

As an attendee of the football game, I have never seen the stadium filled with so much excitement! The Crusaders were 7-0 before the game this past weekend, upping the anticipation amongst the crowd! My roommates and I attended the numerous tailgates offered, from Freshman Field to Fitton Baseball Field, interacting with our friends and their families while cheering on the players. The Parent’s Council Tailgate, The Senior Parent Tailgate, and the Instrument Petting Zoo simultaneously occurred on the Fitton Baseball Field. The football game ensured everyone’s cravings were curved, from Kona ice to the Pig Roast food trucks located at and around the stadium.

The game ended up being a success, taking home yet another win, making the season 8-0. A perfect win for a perfect weekend. Go, Crusaders! To fully summarize the weekend and anticipate next year, visit https://www.holycross.edu/family-weekend/schedule.
