Our Chief Sports Editor, Mike O’Brien ‘23, sat down for a virtual interview with Mike Philbrick ‘96, senior editor at ESPN. Their engaging conversation covers Philbrick’s work on ESPN’s podcast ESPN Investigates, the future of sports journalism, the strength of the Holy Cross community, and much more. Don’t miss a word of “An Interview with Mike Philbrick ‘96” – it’s a slam dunk!
Finals are always stressful, but of course the remote semester and the conditions of the pandemic further exacerbate the usual challenge. Stacey Kaliabakos ‘23, Features Editor, interviewed three sophomores about their concerns and coping strategies in “Student Views on Virtual Finals and the Culmination of this Online Semester.”
It’ll be a tough finals season, but there are still exciting campus events to look forward to! If you’re tuning into A Festival of Concerts tonight at 7 p.m. ET, be sure to check out “A Festival of Concerts, Interviews with Prof. Allegra Martin and singer Meghan DiMercurio ‘23,” by Grace Bromage ‘23, Chief Features Editor, for a behind-the-scenes look at all the hard work that went into the concert (and don’t miss “Advertisement for the 12/4 Winter Concert,” by Hannah Johnson ‘21, Chief Eggplant Editor, a.k.a. “Patron of the Arts,” for a humorous insider’s look). Next week, Holy Cross is excited to welcome American poet Billy Collins ‘63 for a webinar. For all the details of this thrilling opportunity, check out “Upcoming ‘Evening of Poetry’ with Billy Collins ‘63,” by Devin Forcina ‘22, News Editor.
The Spire will publish our last issue for the semester next Friday. Until then, good luck with the last week of classes!
