Tomorrow, November 7, the annual Women in Business Conference will occur virtually, connecting current Holy Cross students with alumnae and celebrating Holy Cross women in business. The Spire covers the student-led committee’s efforts to “match the event’s usual excitement” in “15th Annual Women in Business Conference Goes Virtual,” by Devin Forcina ‘22, News Editor. Interested participants can still sign up for this inspiring event here.

The Women in Business Conference isn’t the only classic Holy Cross program persevering this year. Co-Chairs Alex Nazzaro, Paulina Martin, and Evan Realbuto (all Class of 2021) shared their leadership experience with The Spire, explaining their creative approach to this year’s Immersion Program, which will take place virtually in January. For a preview of this year’s exciting program, check out “Keeping Traditions Alive: Immersion Program Switches to Virtual Format,” by Kelly Gallagher ‘22, Editor-in-Chief. Students, to build relationships with your Holy Cross peers and members from your immersion host community, register for the program here by Monday, November 9.

Though traditions are important to the community, the College is also working to make meaningful progress. For an update on the search for the next President of the College of the Holy Cross and what criteria the search team is keeping in mind, read “Presidential Search Process Continues, Diversity and Inclusion Remain Key Issues,” by Jocelyn Buggy ‘22, News Editor.

This week has been a tense one as America waits for the results of the Presidential Election. Joe Barbieri ‘23, Opinions Editor, encourages readers to keep political discussion civil and thus truly democratic in his article “Let’s Stop the Political Bullying.” In addition to treating others with decency and respect, be sure to take care of yourselves as well. In “Highlighting Wellness Resources at the Counseling Center,” Bridget Flaherty ‘21, Features Editor, offers a list of campus resources to help you get the remainder of the semester.

Other great articles to check out this week include “HC Weekly Athlete Spotlight – Bryce Dolan ‘22, Men’s Hockey,” by Jimmy Casey ‘22, Sports Editor; “Health Professions: Tips, Tricks, and a Talk by Dr. Helen Boucher ‘86,” by Nicole Letendre ‘23, Features Editor; and “They Took Away Our Campus, and Now They’re Taking Away Halloween,” a satire article by Michael Vail ‘24, Staff Writer.

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to fill out our survey here about your experiences during the remote semester!

The Spire hopes the community is coping during this difficult week. Take care of yourselves, offer whatever strength you can to others in your life, and as Dr. Fauci told the Holy Cross community back in October, “Don’t give up hope.”
