Due to the irregularity of the Spring 2020 Semester at the College of the Holy Cross, it has been deemed appropriate to amend the traditional preparations for the 2020-2021 academic year by college officials. First, the class deans communicated to the students of Holy Cross last week to confirm the dates for course enrollment. Additionally, all course enrollment periods now begin at 5:15 p.m. EST for each given block to accommodate for more students who are spread geographically.

Two enrollment periods occurred during the week of April 20, beginning with the enrollment in courses for those graduating Fall 2020-Fall 2021 on Monday, April 20. Following that, those graduating Spring 2022 and Fall 2023 enrolled in courses beginning on Thursday, April 23. Finally, those graduating Spring 2023 and Fall 2024 will enroll in courses beginning on Monday, April 27. The enrollment period for each block of students lasts for 48 hours from the beginning of the enrollment period.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Holy Cross is allowing students who are planning on studying abroad or studying away on the New York or Washington, DC semester programs during the Fall 2020 term to enroll for courses for the fall. Professor Patricia Kramer, Dean of the Class of 2022, communicated to students information on enrollment email, saying, “Given the uncertainty about whether or not you will be able to be away from HC in the fall, we are recommending that you enroll in classes here at HC.  If your program is available in the fall and you choose to go, the Registrar’s Office will remove your HC courses and begin the process to allow you to take courses away.”

Additionally, students who are scheduled to study away will be allowed to select housing for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Office of Residence Life and Housing communicated instructions to all students for completing the housing contract and selecting a roommate, even those who may still be studying away.

Currently, the Office of Residence Life and Housing has not set a date for official housing selections, but it has been confirmed to be delayed. The webpage of the office states, “The housing selection process for the 2020-2021 academic year has been delayed. Students will be notified via email once specific dates have been determined. All aspects of the housing selection process will be conducted in online formats including roommate matching.” The process will be the same online as in previous years.

Enrollment in courses at Holy Cross usually occurs at the beginning of April for courses the following Spring, meaning that the delay for enrollment is not more than two weeks. The housing selections for the following academic year occur in early May, with the housing selection for the 2019-2020 academic year occurring on May 8, 2019 last year, and the date will soon be announced on when housing selection will occur this year.
