Following the success of their 2025-2026 season, the Women’s Basketball team is back on the court with their first game on Nov. 2 against Boston College. The team is led by newly hired Candice Green, with this being her first full season as head coach. The lineup is stacked this year with several new faces as well as heavy hitters that remain from last season’s Patriot League Champions. Green describes the team as having “great senior leadership that teaches the younger players not only the system but also the culture.” Green’s main principle is focusing on how the team will face adversity. Whether there are mental or physical issues, Green is dedicated to supporting the team and having a successful season.
One of the many stars on the team is Kendall Eddy ‘27. Eddy was named to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team for the 2025-2026 season and also had the second most steals out of all the players in the Patriot League. Green called her an “exceptional ball handler and playmaker” and has a lot of confidence in her for this upcoming season. In the preseason, Eddy was able to step up and become a role model for the newer players on the team. Green gave her a lot of credit and sees her as their main player.
With the graduation of many big players, including Meg Cahalan and Simone Foreman, the team is looking to rebuild in the right direction. Currently, the team ranks fourth in overall offense and third in overall defense as we head into the new season. The chemistry between the team has been very strong, and the women are hopeful heading into their first game.
Looking back on their last season, Green says every experience has been a learning opportunity for her players to grow. From beating Lehigh in the Patriot League Championship to playing against Michigan in a stadium, she states that the girls will be carrying those moments with them as they head into the season.
Alongside Boston College, the team will also be playing against teams in the Patriot League, several Ivy League schools, and strong non-conference opponents like the University of Rhode Island. Green cited that her team is in a flow state, with them being aware of how they can execute their plans. “Let’s not sweep things that we are not good at under the rug and instead let’s address them and hit them head on.” Overall, this is shaping up to be a very exciting season for our Women’s Basketball team, and I would urge all of you to go out and support our first game!
