On Sunday, April 13, Holy Cross hosted admitted Class of 2029 students for Accepted Students Day. Accepted Students Day is a day for any accepted student to come to campus either now that they have enrolled, or to help them learn more about the college before enrolling.

Parents and students had the opportunity to attend info sessions, tour a dorm, and interact with current students. Sessions ranged from The Power of Purple to student panels to a club fair, allowing students to talk to current members and leaders of clubs that they themselves might like to join.

In true Holy Cross spirit, despite the cold and the wind, students were welcomed to campus with smiles and an enthusiastic greeting of “Hi! Welcome to Holy Cross!” Accepted Students Day took place across all of campus from Brooks to Hogan to Stein. No matter where families and accepted students went, there were current students there to greet them and answer any questions they may have had!

No Accepted Students Day at Holy Cross is complete without food trucks! Accepted students were able to enjoy many campus favorites such as Mac Daddy and The Dogfather. The food trucks were an opportunity for student employees in admissions to walk around and interact with families in a more informal environment.

I, personally, am an admissions student greeter. I love working Accepted Students Day because I love getting to interact with all the students. This year, I was positioned at the Stein Bridge helping to direct families and answer any questions they might have. From simply giving directions to telling families what a day in my life looks like to answering questions about the day itself, these interactions give me a chance to tell students just how much I love Holy Cross.

On this Accepted Students Day, it was also Palm Sunday mass. Families were given the opportunity to attend and experience a Holy Cross mass. Holy Cross campus life was in full swing with students walking around campus going to Dinand or Kimball or with students going to mass or Cool Beans: and accepted students got to be a part of this day.

No matter how prepared a student may feel for college, they usually still have questions about all sorts of things. Accepted Students Day is designed to help students get these questions answered and hear from professors and students alike. Admissions Counselor Elisabeth Villa ‘22 stated, “Despite 6 inches of snow the day before, we had a massive turnout. Everyone on campus seemed to be thrilled about walking around, making new friends, and sharing in the excitement over their recent acceptances.” Villa reflected back on her Holy Cross experience saying, “I always enjoy talking with recently accepted students and sharing in their excitement for the next four years ahead – it takes me back to my own Accepted Students Day!”

Students who have been accepted to the Class of 2029 have also had the opportunity recently to do Day Visits and shadow a current student through their day. All of these experiences have given students the chance to truly experience Holy Cross life and see all that it has to offer them during their next four years.
