College President Vincent Rougeau announced to Holy Cross students’ families in an email sent on Friday, Feb. 28 that the school would be setting tuition and mandatory fees for the 2025-2026 academic year at $68,090. This represents a 5.6% increase over this current year’s tuition and mandatory fees total of $67,200. Only tuition itself is seeing an increase. The health service fee of $450 and the activity fee of $440 remain the same. Additionally, room and board costs are to remain the same for the 2025-26 academic year as well. The standard housing cost will stay at $11,000 and apartments will stay at $13,300. The standard food plan will still cost $8,700, Options I and II Apartment food plan will cost $4,000, and Option III Apartment food plan will cost $4,440.
The rise in tuition was approved by the board of trustees during their Jan. 2025 meeting. President Rougeau in his email stated that as a “tuition-dependent institution” approximately “67% of the annual total cost of the residential education experience” is covered by tuition and fees. He cites that the “rising cost of offering an exceptional academic and residential experience” necessitates the bump in tuition. Additionally, he writes that student’s tuition dollars are being invested in student-focused programs and student spaces such as science labs and performing arts studios. He also wrote that the college “remains committed to affordability and access” saying that the college is “one of fewer than 100 colleges and universities nationwide that meet 100% of a student’s demonstrated financial need at the time of admission.” Finally, President Rougeau encouraged students who have not yet applied for financial aid for the 2025-26 academic year to do so on the school’s website.
