Recently, the Holy Cross chapter of Her Campus has been declared an Elite Chapter. This means that the Holy Cross chapter ranks in the top 5 percent of over 400 chapters around the world. This percentage is based upon factors such as “social media engagement, quantity of articles, and overall activity in the community.” In January, the Holy Cross Her Campus website engaged 1,600 people.

Her Campus is one of the student journalism publications here on campus. They write on anything ranging from culture to style to mental and physical wellness, covering a wide variety of topics. Not only do they write, they run events for the whole campus community such as Girls Night, an annual Thrift Store, and Valentine’s Day candygrams! Some upcoming events include a collaboration with The Spire in celebration of 100 years of student journalism and the Thrift Store event.

Her Campus is an organization on campus that many students are a part of. The Her Campus website states, “Her Campus is the leading media platform dedicated to empowering college women around the globe. What makes Her Campus unique is that it’s entirely created by college students for college students.” Holy Cross being named an Elite Chapter is an impressive and important milestone to recognize. Members and E-Board alike are both incredibly involved in and appreciative of the Her Campus community and the work they do. Ann O’Malley ‘26, a Spring 2025 Co-Chair, stated, “Since fall of my freshman year, Her Campus has been a way for me to express myself creatively. I have loved writing weekly articles and putting together community events. I am so fortunate to be leading such an inspiring group of women.” Members speak of their love of the community and the environment. Meredith McDonough ‘26 said, “I enjoy being a part of Her Campus because it is an uplifting environment where you can feel free to express yourself creatively.” Anna Kerns ‘26 similarly reflects, “I enjoy being a part of Her Campus because I enjoy being a part of a community of like-minded people!”

Rhiannon Dyment ‘26 said, “I joined Her Campus the spring semester of my freshman year. It has not only been a means for me to express myself creatively through writing and social media, but it has introduced me to my best friends. I was away for the fall semester, and will continue to be abroad for the spring, but being a part of Her Campus and continuing to write and assist in managing the social media accounts remotely, has allowed me to stay connected with my friends and the Holy Cross community. To me, Her Campus has always meant being a part of a supportive community of women, and I have continued to feel that sense of community while 3000 miles away.” Even in a different country, members are still able to be a part of the community and feel a part of the community.

Not only has the Her Campus provided students with a community, it has provided students with a community that has acted as role models for younger students. Callie Gillan, now a junior, stated, “When I joined the beginning of my Freshman year, I was intimidated by the large group of girls I didn’t know. However, those girls became not only some of my best friends, but my Holy Cross family. The older girls took me under their wing and helped me through my first months of college. I genuinely do not know where I would be without the amazing community found within the girls of Her Campus. When I’m there I feel free to be me, and I and my most genuine, happy self. I’m so grateful I’ve been able to write for this amazing group and was chosen to become editor for the Spring semester. Her Campus has reignited my love for writing and has given me an outlet I never knew I needed.”

Her Campus is a community and a family. It is a club that welcomes everyone. With the designation of Elite Chapter, Holy Cross Her Campus is thriving.
