The Holy Cross class of 2024 began their tenure on-campus at the frigid end of January 2021, with the usual orientation activities and celebrations relegated to the videoconferencing platform Zoom. Although there is no revising this rather unconventional beginning, the events marking the end of the class of 2024’s time on the Hill seem more than ready to make up for it. On March 28, the Student Government Association announced a list of events on the week of May 20, all leading up to Commencement on Friday, May 24. The events last from Sunday the 19 to Wednesday the 22. As of this time, events have not been completely finalized — the Spire can confirm that there are activities planned beyond the ones announced in the March 28 email.

Ticket sales officially went live this week, and seniors can purchase them for each SGA event until sales close on May 1.

“Preparation for senior week has been going on since Senior Ball in November, which is crazy to think about,” says Alessia Caira, one of the members of the SGA Senior Class Council. “Myself, Kyle McCabe, Anthony Mabardy, and Nicole Pimentel have been working hard to plan a fun and memorable week for all seniors. We are purposefully packing the week with a bunch of different activities so that students have a lot to choose from. I really hope that everyone will take advantage of everything we have planned and make the most out of their last week on the hill.”

On Sunday, May 19, there will be a Food Truck Festival on campus, with delicious food from a variety of Worcester’s best vendors. The Senior Boat Cruise will then be taking place on Monday, May 20 on Boston Harbor, with direct transportation provided by the school to Hogan Campus Center. The 21+ event is to be held on the Spirit of Boston, “a four-level dining vessel with three interior climate controlled dining decks and two exterior observation decks. Onboard cuisine includes buffet style dining with onboard DJ entertainment and interactive games throughout the yacht” (City Experiences). Tuesday, May 21 will see the class of 2024 enjoying a beautiful sunset dinner just across the border in Rhode Island. Finally, there will be a Last Pub Night in Crossroads, on Wednesday, May 22.  Upon the conclusion of the Senior Week events, just two days later, students will cross the Commencement stage and embrace their destinies beyond the Hill.

“Some of the events that I’m most looking forward to are the Boat Cruise and the Food Trucks where members of the class can also get their Senior sweatshirts!” Alessia shares. “The dinner in Rhode Island will also be beautiful; there’s steak, lobster, live music, lawn games, and more. Members of the class will get to sit together at big tables outside which I think will be very sweet.”

“I am super excited for the Sunset Boat Cruise because I think it’s going to be really fun.  And I think it’ll be a really memorable moment with all of my friends and our class,“ says Kevin Hamilton ‘24, the current SGA Co-President. “I’m especially grateful for all of the work that Alessia, Kyle, Nicole, and Anthony are doing to prepare.” The SGA Senior Class Council have indeed done phenomenal work organizing, and the class of 2024 surely holds them a great deal of respect and gratitude.
