The Office of Student Accessibility Service
The Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) and DREAM (Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring) Peer Educators, in collaboration with other campus partners, will host a Disability Awareness, Access, and Inclusion week starting October 16th. The purpose of the week is to celebrate the diversity of individuals with disabilities, recognize disability as an important part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, promote accessibility and universal design across campus, and break down stigma and barriers for individuals with disabilities.
DREAM will host a special guest speaker Noelle Lambert, founder of the Born To Run Foundation, on Wednesday, October 18th at 7pm in the Hogan Ballroom. The Born To Run Foundation provides prosthetics for athletes who have lost limbs. Having lost a leg in her lifetime, Ms. Lambert “makes the promise to help young amputees obtain specialized prosthetics that they are unable to afford so that they will be able to live a more fulfilling life” (source: Born to Run Foundation). Recently having finished college, Ms. Lambert is a record-holding paralympian athlete who participated in the 2021 Tokyo games.
Refreshments will be provided; please register for the event on myHC.
