Danielle Ford and Daniela Alecio transformed their dorm in Clark into a pink paradise. From sunsets to succulents, this room captivates the attention of every person who has the luck of passing by.
When planning the dorm together, the roommates decided that the key to a warm and inviting room was the lighting. Their golden sunset lamp ties the room together beautifully and keeps the roommates from turning on the harsh overhead lighting.
As you walk into the room, three statement pieces painted by Matisse catch your eye. These pieces of art have such a unique style, and the blush pink compliments the greenery which is thoughtfully placed around the room. Their aesthetics are coherent with the white bedding, plants, and sunset lighting. A tribute to Holy Cross’ aesthetic is the classic ivy on their wall which balances the warmth. Alecio was enthusiastic about how amazing Target was when purchasing her room decor, and how easily the pink and green color scheme came together.
“I chose a lot of lighter colors so the room would feel larger than it is,” Ford commented. And it did just that! The color scheme alludes to how spacious the room is. Not to mention, the dorm is riddled with accent pieces including golden statues, a portrait-patterned blanket, and even some cute Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore funko pops. Another notable mention of their room is the snack station. A three-tiered drawer full of snacks is a perfect way to make friends in college and they nailed it.
Moving to a new place is a challenge and Alecio said, “The vines, sunset lamp and little hidden plants really helped me feel comfortable in such a new place. I also really loved how my roommate went for the same vibe and now we have a room that really ties in together!”
Both of the girls brought a piece of home with them to Holy Cross, and on each of their beds sit stuffed animals that remind them of their friends from home, and even a Holy Cross unicorn to commemorate their new beginning.
To top it all off, Ford and Alecio have a print of former President JFK blowing bubblegum. This artistic choice pulls all aspects of the fun and unique room together, and I’d say it’s a wonderful home on the hill.
