Imagine, just for a moment, dear reader, what it might be like to be an eagle, soaring high above the earth in an almost triumphant manner. You can fly, you are literally (and metaphorically) above all those silly little people on the ground; therefore, you are better in almost every conceivable fashion. Of course, the silly people on the ground don’t see it that way. They think in the narrow, ludicrous view that they are just as good as you. They think that because they occupy the same state, that they have every right to claim they are as smart or talented or worthy. But, deep down, you know they are not.
Now, dear reader, I want you to imagine that those same flightless mongrels invade your nest, embarrass your nest, clip your wings, and send you plummeting towards the ground (or back up the ramp of a stadium tunnel). This is, of course, completely hypothetical and in no way related to the Holy Cross vs. BC football game this past Saturday in which Holy Cross students vastly outnumbered BC students in their own stadium. Now, if you’ll indulge me even further, I want you to imagine that because the enemy, so unimaginably in your opinion, so debilitated you, that you set fire to your own tree, burning your nest in order for the enemy to abandon it as well. Again, I want to emphasize that this, IN NO WAY, mirrors Holy Cross students outlasting BC students in a torrential hellstorm which delayed the game for two hours. Finally, reader, I want you to imagine you catch a lucky break, and your attacker, blind from the inhalation of the fire in your nest, stumbles, for a near moment in front of you, and you, seizing the moment, decide to run away to safety. Would you feel like a hero for burning down our nest and running away from your home with your tail between your legs? That’s up for you to decide. I sure wouldn’t.
