Participating as a member of the Her Campus chapter here at Holy Cross has allowed me to connect with a fantastic group of fellow students through events, collaborations, and team meetings. This spring has been full of fun additions to our activity roster – including collaborating with other student-run clubs and social events. By networking with like-minded organizations on campus, we have fostered an uplifting community with a common love for sharing our voices and stories.
As we near the end of another successful year, it is important to recognize how our Her Campus chapter has grown. Over the years since I joined, we have expanded our outreach, connected with alums, been approved for funding, and many more! My role as a staff writer and social media team member provides me with an inside perspective on the club’s impact on the team members – myself included. This year, we have expanded that impact by collaborating with outside organizations and the campus community collectively.
Although we host our Thrift Store event annually, we collaborated with Holy Cross Pride this year! The event was an amazing success, welcoming everyone to a safe and inclusive space to shop sustainability and trade fashion tips. Thrifting marked our first collaboration with Holy Cross Pride, and we look forward to many more! The event occurred on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 6 – 8:30 pm, offering private changing rooms and styling help for everyone in attendance.
I love our Thrift Store event because it is a time when college students can come together and express their interest in eco-friendly fashion. By providing the campus with a thrift store alternative, students avoid clothing waste and allow for a fun and engaging activity with friends. If you missed this year’s event, don’t worry! We hope to see you there next school year.
Alongside the Thrift Store, Her Campus Holy Cross hosted an Social on in Hogan this past Wednesday! With the weather improving and the campus in bloom, what better way to connect than over ice cream and makeup samples? Ice cream was provided for the first 50 attendees and the whole campus community was encouraged to drop by. The samples include major makeup brands such as Clinique and Too Faced! With such exciting events occurring throughout the year and our last social hangout this week, the club has come a long way during my time at Holy Cross. Our community has grown, and I am so lucky to be a part of it.
