I am sure you have seen the signs planted across people’s lawns that say, “In this house we believe Black Lives Matter, women’s rights are human rights, no human is illegal, science is real, love is love, and kindness is everything.” For the last few years, they have been the staple of the white upper class liberal elite class to display how woke they are. Cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Cambridge all declared themselves sanctuary cities, homes for illegal immigrants to find refuge from ICE and deportation. Now that’s all good when you are in the Northeast, far away from the border and almost every illegal immigrant because you can show off how open you are without having to deal with any of the consequences of your policies. However, as of late, Democrats are proving that they are all in favor of open immigration up to the point when illegal immigrants show up outside their own doors. 

What DeSantis did, whether you agree with it or not, was brilliant. His entire point was to show the media, who have largely ignored the issue, and the public at large, that Democrats are into virtue signaling, but are not into open borders when affected directly– especially in areas that are rich and cloistered like Martha’s Vineyard, a place that the Left in particular likes to reside in. To be fair, Republicans like to live in those types of gated communities as well, but that is because they prefer the idea of living in communities legally. They are not big fans of the idea that people should be allowed to enter a place illegally and then just stay there. But Democrats seem to be all in favor of this idea until it reaches Barbra Streisand’s gates. They really like this idea until the planes land in Martha’s Vineyard.        

So Ron DeSantis sent fifty illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard and the entire world went insane. 

What is even more crazy is that fifty illegal immigrants is comparatively nothing. When you are talking about Martha’s Vineyard, a town of about 17,000 people, that number can swell dramatically during the summer to upwards of 200,000 people total. Fifty illegal immigrants for a population of seventeen thousand is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants arriving in certain border towns in Texas where the total population is around 100,000. 

While this was going on, reports came out that Joe Biden and his cabinet were scrambling to deal with this problem. They were not scrambling to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants pouring across the Southern border earlier in Joe Biden’s presidency. He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when there were 53 migrants who died in a trailer in Texas because they were neglected by the federal government. But they do scramble when fifty illegal immigrants end up in a very wealthy sanctuary city. With this move, President Biden showed the hypocrisy of all the open border Democrats. He should try to change the federal immigration policy so that these immigrants don’t suffer the way they currently do, crossing vast dangerous regions under constant threat from coyotes and drug and sex traffickers. Governors like DeSantis are simply saying to blue areas that they should take ownership of their policies, and there is nothing wrong with that.
