On Friday, November 19, the Class of 2022 attended their Senior Ball at Polar Park in Worcester. Sponsored by the Student Government Association Class of 2022 Class Council, seniors were able to celebrate, dance, and eat with their fellow classmates at Polar Park. Each member of the Class of 2022 was able to attend, and they could even invite guests from outside Holy Cross. After paying $90 and proving HCClear or vaccination status, students and their guests were able to pick up wristbands and enjoy this outdoor, Covid safe event. Seniors dressed in their best tuxedos and ball gowns, took pictures in front of the ivy at Fenwick and on the Dinand steps, and boarded buses at Hogan to take them to Polar Park. Holy Cross provided transportation to and from the event, making it easy for all seniors to attend. Though the temperatures were dipping into the forties, almost 600 seniors took advantage of this safe, fun, rare opportunity to spend time with their friends and classmates.

After attending many WooSox games at Polar Park during baseball season, students were excited to experience the stadium in a different context. At the Senior Ball, instead of the typical baseball game hot dogs and WooSox merch, there was a DJ and a dancefloor, a photo booth with fun props and costumes, a full bar of drinks, and countless snacks, including buffalo chicken eggrolls, nachos, soft pretzels, and wings. Because the event was outdoors, students could attend maskless, contributing to feelings of returning to normalcy. Senior David Schneider reflected on the event, saying, “Even though it was freezing, my friends and I had a great time! The food was delicious and it was amazing to be at Polar Park. I wasn’t sure if we would be able to have it this year because of Covid, so I’m really glad it worked out.”
Senior Michaela Lake also discussed her experience at the Senior Ball, saying, “It was like Prom, but much more fun! I loved getting the chance to dress up and get ready with my friends. After a busy, stressful semester, it was awesome to take the time to slow down and enjoy time with my classmates.” Seniors were grateful to have the opportunity to make lasting memories at the Ball. The Senior Ball was the perfect way to end a hectic Fall Semester, giving seniors the chance to celebrate with their class and spend time together.
