Spotlight: Marketing Peer Career Assistant

By Cassie Naimie and Raha Maalin

This year, the Center for Career Development has created a new student role in the office: Peer Career Assistants.  PCAs work closely with the counselors in the career center to help cover drop-in hours, edit student resumes and cover letters, co-present Career Center workshops, and assist the office with promotional campaigns and special events. Below, Cassie Naimie and Raha Maalin discuss their responsibilities as PCAs and their specific role with the Career Center’s Marketing team.

The Peer Career Assistant Marketing Team in Hogan 203 is comprised of three seniors: Raha Maalin, Emily Bowman, and Cassie Naimie, led by our fearless leader Maura Sweeney. This semester, we have been working on new initiatives to get students excited about careers and start planning early. We send out weekly electronic newsletters about internships and the job search process, we promote events like workshops and career fairs, and we have come up with some new and creative ways to be accessible to students. Each member of the team has taken on a campaign and the result has been fun, to say the least. We have had Crusader Connections Lobby Tables, Sunday Drop-in Hours in Hogan 1, and are in the process of creating a meet-the-staff video that we hope you all enjoy.

We love using social media apps to connect with the student body! The Marketing PCAs create different social media campaigns to spotlight the Career Center’s mission by promoting the endless possibilities of a liberal arts education, and the many opportunities granted to us by our strong Holy Cross’ alumni base. Follow us our different handles to keep up with the office’s different events and see familiar faces featured on our campaigns.
