Holy Cross Cheer Team Fundraises for Nationals

Every year, the cheer team attends NCA nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. If you are familiar with the Netflix docu-series Cheer, then you know just how important nationals is to cheerleaders. Cheerleaders perform on the bandshell which is essentially a large stage with mats right next to the beach. There is also a tradition that every team that wins their division gets to run into the ocean in their uniform with their trophy. Nationals is special to the cheer team because it is the one time a year where cheerleaders get the spotlight for all the hard work they have put into the season. This year is especially noteworthy for the team as it is now co-ed and is one of the largest teams the program has seen yet! I am a captain of the team, and the atmosphere this year amongst team members is unlike any other year prior. There is a strong determination amongst all members to work hard in order to make this team the strongest it can be.

However, although nationals is a very exciting time, the cheer team must fundraise for their trip expenses. Because of this, the team has organized several fundraisers. One of these is a February Venmo calendar in which people can donate the same amount of money that appears on any of the days during  the month of February. This will cover the cost of our registration! Another exciting fundraiser we have is a bake sale that will take place on: Wednesday, February 15 and 22nd. Also in the month of March, the bake sale will take place on the 1st, 15th, and 22nd. All of these fundraisers will take place on Hogan 1 from 12pm to 3pm. There will be purple themed goodie bags with my mom’s homemade cookies and brownies! They are a favorite amongst family and friends, so I highly recommend you give them a try and help support my amazing teammates and me! If you cannot make it to the bake sale but would still like to donate to the cheer team, please reach out to the team’s Instagram @holycrosscheerleading.
