They say time flies when you’re having fun. If that’s true, then how come it feels like I just walked into Wheeler for the first time two weeks ago? I’m kidding. College is the time of my life. For sure. Yeah. I think? At least that’s what they say. Who is they? Who comes up with all these phrases like “time flies when you’re having fun” and “college is the best time of your life.” I constantly reference these people in my day to day life but I don’t actually know who they are. Shouldn’t I be giving them credit? As an English major, I have been taught that credit is very important. Should I cite it in MLA or APA? : Anonymous, People. Weird Phrases We Say All The Time. The Beginning of Time.
Anyway, back to my original point. How the heck is it November? There’s just literally no way. I swear I got here two days ago. I must say November is a weird month. It’s a very odd transition time where it’s still technically fall but it sort of feels like winter and you can just feel the seasonal depression coming in fast. There’s also the fact that everyone seems to think they can start celebrating Christmas when the clock strikes midnight on October 31st. Like hello?? There’s an entire holiday between those two. I know it’s kind of hard to decorate for Thanksgiving but that doesn’t mean that we have to forget about it entirely. A celebration of thanks is it not?
I have a lot to be thankful for this year but I would really love one of those things to be not seeing a single Christmas decoration in stores until November 26th. I swear I’m not a holiday hater. I just have this weird thing that I can’t do anything Christmas related until after I’ve had about seven servings of mashed potatoes and gravy. From that point on it’s jingle all the way. The only exception to that rule is Christmas rom coms. I’ve already watched The Holiday and Holidate in the last week. I watched The Holiday before Halloween even. You can’t blame me, though. I shouldn’t be expected to show restraint when it just got put on Netflix and it’s a fantastic movie with a stacked cast. Jack Black, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Cameron Diaz. I mean come on. I highly recommend it.
One fantastic thing about November is that we gain an hour of sleep. In fact, that’s this coming Sunday. Get hyped guys. It’s almost like they knew college kids would be getting desperate for sleep at this point in the school year (again I have no idea who they is). For real though, I’ve been taking an absurd amount of naps. Should I be concerned that I’m so tired all the time or is it normal? My roommate has narcolepsy so I don’t have a fantastic frame of reference. Feel free to let me know though. Oh well, Happy November everyone. Try not to let that SAD creep in too quickly. Much love.
