Revival of Her Campus Chapter at Holy Cross

Caroline Wallace ‘23

Staff Writer

Her Campus is an online magazine geared towards the interests of college-aged females. The magazine is known for its wide range of topics that include everything from fashion tips to career advice. There are Her Campus chapters at hundreds of college campuses across the world, and thanks to Bridget Flaherty, it’s coming to Holy Cross next! I had the opportunity to talk to Flaherty—a member of the class of 2021—who discussed what students can expect from the College’s chapter of Her Campus, as well as how students who are interested in writing for Her Campus can become involved.

During Flaherty’s sophomore year at Holy Cross, the college had a Her Campus chapter. At that time, Flaherty had written for the magazine and had enjoyed her experience.

Unfortunately, the chapter ultimately came to an end. However, this year the Her Campus team reached out to Flaherty about reviving Holy Cross’ chapter. Because of how much she enjoyed her previous experience with Her Campus, she agreed. Flaherty said that she was “excited for the opportunity because I think it is a great resource for college-aged girls.” Flaherty felt that bringing back Her Campus was important—now more than ever—in order to “establish a sense of community,” despite students having to stay home this semester.

Flaherty has already begun the process of brainstorming topics for upcoming issues of the magazine. She hopes to have “a balance” in topics so that it can be “accessible” to everyone. Readers can expect to see a range between “more serious issues like politics,” as well as “fashion tips or celebrity gossip.”

When talking with Flaherty she included that “new members are always welcome.” Females on campus who enjoy writing can become involved with Holy Cross’ chapter of Her Campus by emailing Bridget Flaherty at bkflah21@g.holycross.edu, or by direct messaging the Her Campus Twitter (@HCHolyCross) or Instagram (@hercampusholycross).
