We’ve all heard of the famous Catalina Wine Mixer. Popularized by the 2008 comedy “Step Brothers,” the event is marketed as “the largest helicopter leasing event in the Western Hemisphere.” However, most people don’t know that the event, although known for being in a movie, is actually very real and this year’s edition will be taking place right here at Holy Cross!
Yep, you read that right, the Catalina Wine Mixer will be happening on our campus (or slightly off it) and it won’t be the first time either; the event’s host selection committee has chosen Holy Cross several times over the years. The committee has released a statement saying they love hosting the mixer at Holy Cross due to “the student body’s passion for socializing, the school’s picturesque setting, and the parking lot just off campus that is seemingly perfect for handling all the dignified people who will almost certainly be attending.” In fact Holy Cross is the only place this event has been held other than Catalina Island of course.
But that’s not all, as in the past, the entire student body will be invited to attend and network with the most important people in the helicopter industry. Everyone is expected to dress accordingly; this is the Catalina Wine Mixer after all, and, as always, act as appropriately and respectfully as possible. The event is extremely high class, which cannot be emphasized enough, so.
As of right now it is undecided when exactly the event will take place, but it’s basically a guarantee it will be on an upcoming Saturday in November most likely before Thanksgiving break. Further details will be released soon! Don’t miss out on this amazing event!
